Cytochrome c6 is known as a redox carrier of the thylakoid lumen of cyanobacteria and some eukaryotic algae that can substitute for plastocyanin in electron transfer. It is situated between the two membrane-bound complexes cytochrome b6f and Photosystem I (PSI) in oxygenic photosynthesis.
